Whether you’re a budding content creator or a macro-influencer, there’s a new rule you need to know about before posting any promotional content online in the UAE.
From 31 January 2026, anyone sharing advertising or promotional posts on social media—paid or unpaid—must have an official UAE Advertiser Permit. Introduced last year, this requirement now applies to all creators, influencers, and even casual promoters. Here’s a simple guide on who needs it, exemptions, and how to get one for free.
Who Needs a UAE Advertiser Permit?
A permit is required for anyone creating social media content that promotes:
-
Brand partnerships
-
Complimentary products or meals in exchange for coverage
-
Services, events, or real estate
-
Any form of sponsored or promotional post
This applies to UAE citizens, residents, and visitors, with fees and validity periods varying by status.
Exemptions
You do not need a permit if you are:
-
Promoting your own business or personal services
-
Advertising a company you fully own through your personal account
Additionally, individuals under 18 can post content related to education, sports, culture, or awareness initiatives without a permit, provided it falls within approved age categories.
