Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has launched a new study project to explore the redevelopment of Mussafah, as part of ongoing efforts to improve quality of life across the emirate and strengthen the district’s position as a leading industrial and investment hub.

According to a statement from DMT, the initial phase of the study will focus on revitalising Mussafah’s waterfront. Plans include the creation of expansive green spaces, upgraded public facilities and design elements that preserve the area’s unique character while enhancing its overall appeal.

Focus on infrastructure and live-work environment

Through the redevelopment study, DMT aims to address Mussafah’s future needs by improving essential services, attracting further investment and delivering a more integrated work-and-living environment that supports both economic growth and social well-being.

As part of the proposed upgrades, road improvement works are being planned along key routes, including the Mussafah–Al Ain Road (E30) and Street 8. These enhancements are intended to improve traffic flow, support all road users and facilitate the efficient movement of commercial goods.

Increased inspections and awareness campaigns

Alongside the redevelopment plans, DMT has stepped up inspection operations and awareness campaigns targeting residents and business owners in Mussafah. The initiative aims to ensure compliance with municipal regulations, curb irregular practices and address visual and environmental issues affecting the area.

These measures also support broader efforts to improve public health, safety and urban cleanliness, while addressing concerns related to residential overoccupancy.

Enhancing Mussafah’s competitiveness

“This study, undertaken alongside our strategic partners, aims to explore the adoption of innovative solutions in infrastructure, transportation and smart urban design to enhance the district’s competitiveness, positioning Mussafah as a global benchmark for economic zones,” he said.

DMT said further details about the redevelopment project and its various stages will be announced in due course.
