The UAE has been advancing its tourism sector in a bid to increase its competitiveness in the global market On June, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy and the Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council presided at BRICS Tourism Ministers Meeting in Moscow. This resulted in holding a meeting under the theme: “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security” chaired by the Russian Federation which was Chair of the BRICS 2024.
The points of discussion focused on the need for coordinated partnership involving all the member countries of BRICS for promoting sustainable tourism and other opportunities within the frame work of the member countries’ host states. Talkind to TASS on the sidelines of the STP-Comference, Abdullah bin Touq pointed to the UAE’s determination to improve the tourism cooperation with BRICS nations under the leadership of the wise leadership of the UAE.
He stressed the needs for new opportunities of developing the sustainable tourism cooperation to advance the economy, facilitate cultural and tourist contributes effectively to positioning the UAE as of the most perspective tourist countries of the word according to the «We the UAE 2031» vision.
“We stand for ensuring our BRICS colleagues’ cooperation in building a reliable and sustainable tourism sphere,” bin Touq said. This includes the expansion of and hard infrastructure for air access, optimization of opportunities from the strategic geography of the UAE and the BRICS countries in terms of tourism, promotion of digital tourism and innovation in tourism-related sub-sectors, and exchange of experience on liberalization of visa regime with a view to enhancing tourism between the member countries.
