In the men’s 100m T34 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Qatar’s Ali Arshad had the best run of his life of 15. 20 seconds and joined the final. Arshad’s race took place at the Stade de France where he was able to finish third in his heat and behind Chaiwat Rattana of Thailand and Walid Ktila of Tunisia in a time of 14. 81secs and 15. 09secs, respectively.
The young man who was 20 years of age confidently gave his word as an athlete. Athfoil Arshad, the bronze medallist said in a interview that ‘I am very happy with my personal best time and this performance has given me a huge morale boost before the final’. In this goal, his aim is to win a medal for Qatar, this is a dream he is willing to make become reality.
Dr. Hassan Al Ansari Qatar’s delegation head also endorsed Arshad’s feat emphasizing that it takes sometime for one to reap the fruits of his or her work. “We are satisfied with Ali Arshad’s personal best,” Dr. Al Ansari said smiling “he will go into the final with nothing but confidence and we foresee him clinching a medal. ”
Qatar has previously won three Paralympic medals: two by Abdulrahman Abdulqadir, a silver in Rio 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo 2020 and a silver medal by Sara Masud in Rio. Arshad will also try his luck in 800 metre race which is scheduled to begin from Friday next after the 100 metre race.
On the same side, Sara Masud is looking forward to participating in women shot put event and wished to win her first Paralympics gold. Her campaign will start from Thursday.
