Federal authorities encourage the residents and visitors in UAE who over stayed their visas to seize the free visa amnesty which is still on but in a statement, it was stated clearly that the amnesty which is due to expire on this October 31, will not be extended. Those who will not adhere to this date will be subjected to penalties since UAE wanted to be strict on its immigration policy come November.
The government’s latest measure implemented on September 1 was a two month amnesty for any foreigner whose visa has already expired may either seek legal means of finding a job to earn his visa or leave the country without being penalized. The overstay fees will be forgiven for the compliant disobidores once the amnesty deadline is met.
Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) Maj Gen Sultan Al Nuaimi therefore called on overstayers to move fast. He said there will be more inspection campaigns starting from November 1 which will involve visiting companies, industrial areas and labor camps.
Over 27,000 human beings of the immigrant population living in Dubai managed to avail the amnesty before September 24 to legalize their status or get exit passes. Amnesty has also been granted on passport validity, while individuals with a one-month validity can apply until October end.
Amnesty applications must be filled at any ICP and Amer service centers around the Emirates which will operate around the clock from 8am to 08:00 PM during the amnesty period.
