Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) has clinched a prize for the project that has been classified as the best practice to prevent fires through the application of AI. The announcement was made on Monday 19/04/2010 by HE Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The emulate ‘fire and life safety ecosystem influencer award’ was produced by the US based National Fire Protection Association the world largest fire safety organization , Sheikh Hamdan congratulated DCD on his X account for clinching the award. The award is for DCD’s innovative Environmental Preparedness Programme that uses advanced artificial intelligence technologies to prevent fires and protect people and assets.
The recognition by NFPA proves that DCD’s fire prevention measures are effective as well as inventive due to an active approach. Thus, this case of applying advanced technology in the analysis of fire incidence patterns and improvement of the prevention mechanisms indeed showcases DCD’s effort as successful.
This was received by Major General Jamal bin Adeith Almehairi for DCD; this showed that the department embraces safety and quality. Sheikh Hamdan also congratulated Major Dr. Essa Ahmed Al Mutawa for assuming the position of head of global indicators for fire incidents head of the carbon emissions reduction research at the WFERA.
The Director General Sheikh Hamdan also boasted that Emirati expatriates were fully capable of moving the country forward, and that they are already taking the UAE to higher levels of safety as well as protection. Being awarded by NFPA also demonstrates that Dubai has been gradually active in applying better and effective solutions to increase safety for citizens and decrease likelihood of hazards to the surroundings.
