Meta AI on WhatsApp to Support Voice Interactions Soon

Meta has announced plans to increase the types of interaction with its AI in the WhatsApp messenger, in particular, voice messages. Today, people can communicate with Meta AI using scripts in platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Nevertheless, the new beta update of WhatsApp for Android (v2. 24. 16. 10) shows a signal of the voice button in the Meta AI chat, which indicates that people will be able to communicate with it through voice messages in the future.

This addition could improve the service’s usability many-fold, since some users would simply prefer voice messages to typed ones. It not only makes the processes easier but also brings more Meta AI users and allows them to interact more with the tool.

The integration of using voice messaging also falls under a general move toward the use of voice interfaces in communication technologies since they are relatively easy to use and efficient. Interactive Meta AI is, therefore, likely to get more users the more it supports voice since areas which use voice communication will be attracted to it.

Today, the voice feature is implemented only in the test version and there is no information which languages are available at the moment. However, the fact that WhatsApp is used internationally, it is presumed that Meta will provide multiple language translations since it caters for the global market place. If the testing phase is successful, the feature could be launched to all users within the next few months which will drastically change ways people interact with AI through WA.

It continues to show Meta’s consistent interest in improving and globalizing its AI services and products Chatbots, which may create a new norm for communicating in chatbots across its platforms.
