For the first time, global companies—G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank Group and Cisco—have come together to launch Stargate UAE, an AI cluster that will turn Abu Dhabi into a top AI hub.
Stargate UAE will open on the UAE–US AI Campus, a newly launched Abu Dhabi site that offers 5 gigawatts of data center capacity for AI. G42, OpenAI and Oracle will launch the 200-megawatt deployment of the 1-gigawatt Stargate UAE cluster in 2026 which follows the initial collaboration in the UAE.
The goal of this initiative is a step within the US–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership which is dedicated to developing safe and secure AI. It is part of the initiative’s first international expansion, as Stargate started in the US aiming to support independent national AI infrastructure.
Using the powerful Grace Blackwell GB300 systems from NVIDIA, the cluster will also have secure Cisco AI networks, optimised Oracle cloud services and worldwide support from SoftBank. The system will facilitate conducting analysis in real-time, training models for multiple industries and powerful computing for healthcare, energy, education and finance.
Apart from infrastructure, Stargate UAE is working to foster scientific research, grow talented workers and achieve sustainability through its science park which will be powered partly by nuclear, solar and natural gas.
People in the industry praised the project for being a bold action toward uniting AI on a global basis. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, called the announcement a bold achievement and Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, called it a new milestone for digital sovereignty. According to Jensen Huang from NVIDIA, AI is the most important change happening now and Stargate UAE will affect how our future runs.
As a result of this partnership, the UAE is firmly recognized as a major actor in the field of AI.
