At the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum held in Brazil’s capital, the United Arab Emirates was part of the group where leaders from around the world chatted about climate change, artificial intelligence, global peace, and working together as parliamentarians.
As a member of the Federal National Council from UAE Parliamentary Division, Ms. Sara Falaknaz made a strong speech at the session for the same topic.
She pointed out that AI is a crucial way to attain growth and balance in every part of the world. She stated, though, that for people to gain the full value of AI, governments should enforce firm rules and fair laws. Falaknaz highlighted that the development of AI ought not to affect privacy, justice, or digital sovereignty negatively.
The FNC member emphasized that respecting human and moral values should be the main goal in development of AI. In her opinion, any new law or rule for new technologies should safeguard people’s rights and support fairness among society.
She indicated that the UAE has taken an innovative approach to leading AI developments across the globe through its activities. These steps are the country’s first appointment of a Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 (aimed at benefiting government and the economy with AI), and the formation of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, the world’s first institution for graduate-level AI research.
She asked her fellow lawmakers to enact laws that can change with technology, support new ideas, and defend people’s rights. She encouraged worldwide collaboration among legislators to discuss ideas and agree on worldwide safety rules for the digital world.
Authorities in the UAE urged the BRICS members to guide AI development by following ethics, equality, and global cooperation.
