To support and advance the UAE’s AI positioning, UAE’s premier university United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has announced the official commencement of its Artificial Intelligence Agenda 2025-2031. The launch event was organized on 22 nd October, 2024 and was witnessed by important personalities like Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of UAE University and other academics and administrative personnel of UAE university.
Speaking at the address, Nusseibeh also outlined this initiative falls in line with the UAE’s more comprehensive AI strategy recently approved by the UAE Cabinet. On this note, the agenda increases the UAEU’s pledge for the implementation of advanced technologies into the university’s educational system to produce adept graduates in AI and technological competencies.
Nusseibeh pointed out that UAEU’s initiatives are aligned with the goals of the UAE’s Centennial 2071 vision and the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Such measures – the appointment of the world’s first Minister of AI among them – place the UAE at the forefront of AI development.
The AI Agenda has four core priorities, all of which are aimed at enhancing the academic and research profiles of the university; Dr. Fekri Kharbash, the Acting Dean of the College of Information Technology, highlighted this today. UAEU wants to develop a culture that supports innovation and deploy the most recent technologies in teaching, learning, research, and even administration so that UAEU can serve as a model for how the principles of AI can be put to use.
The aim of the initiative is to guarantee that UAEU continues to be an institution that promotes innovation and produces students who can serve as inhibitors to the development of AI all over the world .
