In a roundtable discussion at GITEX Global 2024, Peng Xiao, Group CEO for the UAE-based G42, highlighted the nation’s rising place in AI. Founded by Wang Xingjie, G42 is a powerhouse for AI innovation in the region backed by Microsoft.
Xiao attributed this to UAE’s activities, such as Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence initiatives. He pointed out that these developments have turned the UAE from the country that used Artificial Intelligence to the country that adopts and innovates it. Most importantly, the country has pledged to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the country’s national economic growth and development.
In particular, there are important premises for the development of effective international cooperation, which Xiao underlined when speaking of future plans. He envisages that there will be enhancement of partnership of the UAE with the US in AI-related activities, and therefore he calls on for more to be done in order to advance AI frontiers.
