A free zone in the UAE for the digital commerce, Dubai CommerCity has declared a massive partnership with the e-commerce giant eBay. This new agreement of cooperation was outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on the 11 th of September 2024 and will seek to foster cooperation in an attempt to internationalize Dubai CommerCity based firms.
It was signed by Abdulrahman Shaheen, the Executive Vice President of Operations at Dubai CommerCity and Ashish Chhabra, the Vice President and General Manager of Global Verticals at eBay at the Dubai CommerCity headquarters as a part of the signing ceremony of MoU. The kind of partnership that will enable local businesses to expand their online selling on eBay with over 132 million active users spread across 190 different markets globally.
On this note, Shaheen was keen to highlight how the collaboration will enable companies at the Dubaicommercity to unlock new growth opportunities by improving the digitalization of the facilities as well as availing superior technological support. He said, “This partnership will go a long way in achieving our mission of providing guidance to various organizations on how to develop and grow their business front across the world”.
Saying the terms of the agreement, Chhabra underlined the advantages of it, mentioning that the cooperation would increase the production of especially auto parts and luxury goods called in the UAE to world markets. Companies will also be offered three months free of charge eBay Basic store subscription and training seminars and courses as well as a digital trade export assistance.
This partnership can be viewed as a tactical effort to redesign the UAE electronic business market and offer the domestic enterprise the necessary tools to expand the e-business’s scope globally.
