Dubai Unveils Guidebook to Support Growth and Legacy of Family Businesses

A new extensive guidebook from Dubai serves to protect family business entities and their success while family businesses maintain their essential economic position in the emirate. A new guidebook named “Family Businesses in the Emirate of Dubai: A Guidebook” emerged from the joint efforts between the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism together with the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses under Dubai Chambers.

The guidebook launched at the opening ceremony of the Knowledge Series event which focused on “Building a Lasting Legacy: The Future of Family Businesses in Dubai.” The event organized panel discussions about preserving family legacies as well as the implementation of UAE Family Business Law and the integration of registration procedures for family enterprises and innovation adoption.

The guidebook delivers comprehensive guidelines to strengthen wealth protection together with beneficiating succession planning and sustaining operations of family-owned businesses while sharing detailed information about governance structures and legal structures and strategic operational insights. Key topics include:

Corporate governance and administrative frameworks

Family offices and wealth planning

Leadership succession and generational transition

Conflict resolution mechanisms

The ownership of real estate as well as tax recommendations

Sahia Ahmad leads Regulatory Policy and Governance at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism asserting that family businesses will play an essential role in accomplishing the objectives of Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to expand the city’s economic value by 2033.
