Emirates Foundation Partners with GM Middle East to Boost Community Development

Emirates Foundation has signed a year-long deal with General Motors (GM) Middle East through which the latter is to provide a US$ 200000 grant for increasing support to the foundation’s community development programs across the country. This was done in the recent past through engaging in active and constructive volunteerism such as; GM Middle East joined the other participants in the Ideathon with the Emirates Foundation – reflecting on the Volunteering for Sustainability theme.

Special Unified champion schools, the Dawamee Programme, and the more recently launched Ideathon at the COP28 are among the main programmes that will be supported by this cooperation. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Foundation, Mohammed Al Mheiri, who is also the Deputy CEO of the organisation, expressed positive opinion about the partnership, saying that this partnership with General Motors will be promising as it seeks to achieve the social and economic development in the UAE and improve the quality of life of people resorting to the help of the organisation by being involved in the solution of key problems and the implementation of major goals inherent

The president and managing director of GM Middle East Jack Uppal said of the partnership: “We are happy to be working with Emirates Foundation on its programs geared towards empowering the nation’s society and ensuring that inclusiveness is promoted throughout the GCC. We are also excited to take forward our model for an innovation approach to develop the talent pipeline that spans across nationalities, skill sets, and generational bands, which will play a role in realizing the vision

In the next few months, the employees of GM will participate in the various schemes of Emirates Foundation like UCS aimed at supporting the inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities into the mainstream education settings. Also, GM will participate in the Dawamee Programme, where Emiratis avail remote and part-time employment, especially women and Emiratis, to improve the readiness of skilled employment in the mobility sector.
