Dubai Culture Unveils Summer Camps for Kids: A Blend of Creativity, Heritage, and Learning

That is why Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has officially announced the start its summer camps that will take place in July and August. These camps located at Al Shindagha Museum, Etihad Museum, and Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood are beneficial to boost creativity and familiarity of students, towards the Emirati culture.

The camps will take place over two weeks: the dates are from July 1519 and July 2216. In Al Shindagha Museum, the following student outcomes are expected: introduction to prehistory and early history of the UAE; understanding of structural modifications in the vernacular architecture of the country; Importance of teamwork and participating in various activities such as; traveling by Abra; treasure hunt. Sea voyages, advices of diving for oysters and journey on a water taxi through the Dubai Creek will add value to their learning.

The camp of Etihad Museum will take the participants back to 1968 and their packages will include understanding about the geography, traditions, and accomplishments of the nation. Writing of letters about future dreams, Union Agreement negotiations, treasure hunt, and the study of the founding fathers of America are some of the activities.

While at Al Fahidi Summer Camp children will be constructing models of Al Fahidi Fort, well digging, knot work and various adventurous tasks.

Dubai Public Library Summer Camps will take place in several libraries between July 15-26 and between August 5 and 16 and they will be entitled Our Summer Is Full Of Arts and Innovation The following is a list of classes for ages 5 to 9 namely smart farming and smart farm management. Bigger children will watch and learn how to build ‘smart city’ structures, how cities are built and how murals are painted, with the help of artistic Maestro Najat Makki, Magdy Al Kafrawi and Rabab Tantawi. They will also design products based on the different cultures, understand how logos of products and the products themselves are made and how marketing is carried out.

Lasting from 8th to 19th July and from 5th to 16th August, Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children Summer camp includes ceramics, music, photography, cinema, dance, puppet theatre and even clay animation. Some of them are sand painting involving creation of figures on the sandy surface, shaping of sculptures from beaten jellyfish and marine art.

All sessions will be conducted in Arabic and English with the support of specialists; this way the safety of the children and space for their explorations would be provided.
