Dubai School Among Top Finalists for World’s Best School Prize in Environmental Action

Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills has made it to the final three of the World’s Best School Prize for Environmental Action 2024. Popular among its stakeholders for the positive stance it has upheld in the tension of ecological Issues for the past 15 years through its Eco Club, the school is in the spotlight to record achievements in the promotion of awareness concerning ecological issues.

Should they win the top award, the school shall be given $10,000; the amount shall be used to put up a hydroponic farm within school in order to enhance the green school project. Among them, there are such actions as the installation of solar panels and recycles more than two thousand kilograms of electronic waste. It is also identifying local companies to partner with to place e-waste bins in malls across Dubai and planting a forest area in UAE.

The Principal Hitesh Bhagat take pride in the students’ leadership saying, “Sustainability is a student movement spearheading all aspects of our school. ” The school through its Eco Club has managed to conduct activities such as beach cleaning, sales of preloved uniforms and the first model COP28 in 2023 where students discussed issues such as Plastic pollution.

It was launched in 2022, the World’s Best School Prize recognizes schools that are engaging in unique and creative endeavors and the winners this year will have to split outright $50, 000. In the case that Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills will win, the school will also aim to promote sustainable transportation and to rehabit second-hand devices for underprivileged groups.
