Black Barbie Documentary Gets Netflix Premiere Date

The viewers have been provided with the opportunity to watch the trailer of the new documentary “Black Barbie” produced by the Shondaland studio founded by Shonda Rhimes. The public interest in the story of the first Black Barbie will be reignited on June 19th when the documentary will be rolled out as a part of the celebration of Black women working for Mattel in 1980. As stated by Netflix, “Black Barbie” is much greater than simply a doll: It is an entire film dedicated to the three Black female employees of Mattel that helped transform Barbie. It is all depicted in the documentary series and it raises questions pertaining to representation and the impact that dolls have on people’s selves and creativity. In an interview with Variety earlier this year, Rhimes noted: ‘I played with those dolls when I was a kid. There were a lot more layers of additional interview material and colour that we could add in addition to the documentary. ’‘While making this documentary — which includes interviews with Rhimes and the two women who co-designed the first Black Barbie, Kitty Black Perkins and Stacey McBride Irby — we had an interesting opportunity to expand on The film is directed by Lagueria Davis or ‘Milla Jvo’, and also sheds light on the efforts of Davis’s great aunt Beluah Mae Mitchell, a Black Mattel employee in the 1960s who protested for such dolls. In his interview, Rhimes stated why it was necessary to create a diverse Barbie doll: “It was quite intriguing to create the iconic Barbie who is only one color while everyone else has to be called something else. ” A woman from Mattel once asked Rhimes question, “Why do not you create ones that look like us?” “Black Barbie” is connected with the overall agreement between Rhimes and Netflix, and “Bridgerton” is As for whether there is going to be a Barbie sequel , well, there could be anything, but it is important to pick something slightly less ridiculous. If you are a fan of “Black Barbie,” you are yet to wait for the Netflix release, however, people who have seen 2023’s Barbie by Greta Gerwig are wondering about the continuation.

Black Barbie: Netflix releases date June 19th accordingly.
