Marvel’s Avengers 5 Could Reportedly Bring Back More Than 60 MCU Characters

Avengers 5 will be the next big installment and Marvel Studios is purportedly working on a slate to reintroduce 60+ characters from the MCU. It was recently reported that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton opted out of the project last November and Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine, is in a negotiation process to officially direct the movie.

Speaking of the forthcoming movie as an “ensemble feature” and preparing for the production as one of the biggest Marvel projects ever, Avengers 5 is expected to unite a huge number of characters in the MCU. This approach constitutes a departure from previous Avengers motion pictures, which were primarily organized around Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye. While the specifics of the change are still uncertain, it is said that the new cast will make the superhero line-up “more balanced. ”

Some of the faces that people will be looking out for are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk or Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced Avengers: At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars were revealed as the final films in the McU’s “Multiverse Saga” and phase six. At first, there were plans to release the films in May and November 2025, but both have been delayed. The now-untitled Avengers 5 is set for May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Work Page Secret Wars, Vermintide 2, Action, RPG, May 7, 2027.

The report also has a shift in the storyline after the sacking of the actorJonathan Majors, the actor who portrayed Kang the Conquerer. The reason behind his termination is he was charged with reckless assault and harassment. Thus, Marvel Studios has gone away from the Kang storyline, which was extremely significant for Loki as well as Ant-Man 3, and was planned to keep progressing in similar films.
