Dubai to Host Inaugural L’Etape Dubai Cycling Race by Tour de France

In 2025, the Great chance that the people in Dubai will be able to witness the cycling event known as L’Etape Dubai which is presented by the Tour de France to be held on February 2nd, next year. Belton and Be Cool Events Company in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council and proudly supported by Škoda Cars, this event could be said to now be an annual fixture on the UAE’s sporting calendar. L’Etape Dubai mark itself as one of the giant races for amateur cyclists where cyclists get a feel of the entire history and culture of the Tour de France.

The first-ever launching was declared at the time of the press conference held in the premises of the Dubai Sports Council. Some of the individuals in attendance were Saeed Hareb the Secretary-General, of the Dubai Sports council and members of the Hungarian Chamber of commerce who said that over fifty cyclists would be in the race. This was accompanied by the unvieling of the race’s official jersey marked with Dubai skylineinputs.

L’Etape Dubai will be a two-day event; the Kids Race and Family Ride will take place on February 1, 2020, while L’Etape Dubai and the 60 km “The Ride” will be held on February 2, 2020 Main landmarks and attractions of Dubai will be part of the route so that the cyclists have a fantastic cycling experience.

Ali Omar Al Balooshi, Directorate of Sports Events- Dubai Sports Council, on the specifics of this event, added importance of this occasion to Dubai’s spirit to encourage sport and most of all cycling. He said that the race will be beneficial in sports tourism as well as the overall sporting sector in Dubai. The race shall be held on specific routes that will enable the participants to grasp the artistic views of Dubai besides the cultural events.

In preparation for the event several warm up races and trainings are expected to commence in September. Registration for the races will remain open throughout the year with deadline for ‘The Ride’ set for 30th September and for ‘The Race’ 31st December. L’Etape Dubai will attract well over 2 000 riders and will go down in the history of cycling in the entire Middle East region.
