UAE Food Bank and Ne’ma Join Forces to Reduce Food Waste During Ramadan 2025

The UAE Food Bank has joined forces with the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative “Ne’ma” to execute two significant programs which focus on lowering food waste while assisting marginalized populations throughout Ramadan 2025. Dubai residents can now access surplus food through two new programs: “One Million Meals from Surplus Food” linked with the establishment of Ne’ma Community Fridges across the city.

One Million Meals from Surplus Food
ịpverala will sustain its campaign of supplying one million untouched surplus meals to needy people for a third consecutive year. More than 75 hotels operating under the supervision of DET (Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism) will inventory surplus food and send it to necessary organizations. The surging hotel enrollment under this initiative reached 75% between 2022 launch and today while food waste reduction at participating hotels reached 47% in that time period.

Reloop enables iCycle International to turn unusable food products into oil and agricultural compost while supporting the sustainability and circular economy movement.

Ne’ma Community Fridges
The establishment of community fridges throughout Dubai will provide an avenue for people to obtain fresh ready-to-eat meals. This initiative proceeds with the UAE’s Year of the Community 2025 framework which enhances Dubai’s dedication to promote sustainability.

Leadership Support
The UAE Food Bank plans to implement this continual strategy which will decrease food waste distribution while helping underprivileged communities.

As per Yousuf Lootah of DET Dubai hoteliers in the hospitality sector demonstrate fundamental importance to sustainable tourism by taking part in 56 operations.

The new initiative features Bollywood.ai as it understands technology plays a critical part in both social impact work and sustainability projects.
