Ride-hailing platform Careem has launched a Ramadan initiative that will double customer tips for Captains across the UAE. Running from February 18 to March 19, 2026, the limited-time “Tip Matching” feature ensures that every qualifying tip is matched dirham-for-dirham — at no additional cost to customers.
Under the new Ramadan 2026 campaign, any tip of Dhs10 or more made after a ride, delivery, or Hala Taxi trip booked through the app will be matched by Careem.

100% of Tips Go Directly to Captains
Careem confirmed that 100% of customer tips, including the matched amount, will go directly to Captains. Funds are transferred instantly to their Careem Pay account, allowing immediate access or transfer to a bank account.
The initiative is designed to support Captains who continue working while fasting during the Holy Month. According to the company, the campaign reflects Ramadan’s values of generosity, community and support.
Additional Ramadan Support
Beyond the tip matching programme, Careem and Hala Taxi will distribute daily Iftar meals to Captains across the UAE. This ensures those breaking their fast while on duty can access warm meals during working hours.
The campaign applies to services booked through the Careem app, including:
-
Ride bookings
-
Hala Taxi trips
-
Careem Food
-
Careem Quik
-
Careem Shops
-
Careem Box
Customers simply need to tip Dhs10 or more to activate the matching benefit.
Ramadan 2026: Small Gesture, Bigger Impact
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder of Careem, stated that Captains are central to the company’s operations and community impact. He emphasised that matching tips during Ramadan is a practical way to support drivers and delivery partners during the Holy Month.
With Ramadan 2026 underway, the initiative provides a simple way for UAE residents to extend generosity — with every qualifying tip going twice as far.
