UAE Holidays 2025: When Is the Next Long Weekend?

Once Eid Al Adha is over, people in the UAE are already interested in finding out when the next long weekend will be in 2025. Residents are anticipated to get a three-day weekend, since the upcoming holiday will be marked for Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, and the date is Friday, September 5.

In the Islamic calendar, Islamic New Year happens in Rabi’ Al Awwal 12. Because these holidays follow Islamic law, the exact day will be set by the phase of the moon. Because of this, the holiday could be held on a different day than you are used to.

Just a few months ago, the UAE Cabinet presented the full schedule of public holiday events for 2025. Sometimes dates are fixed, for instance, National Day from December 2 to 3, but when they depend on the Islamic calendar, they still await the confirmation of a new moon.

The key UAE public holidays that are approaching us in 2025 include the following:

On Muharram 1, the Islamic New Year is celebrated and the date is yet to be confirmed.

Rabi’ Al Awwal 12 is the date recorded for the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) (expected September 5).

December 2 and 3 are the days when the UAE observes UAE National Day as an official two-day holiday.

Officials in the UAE will issue the final confirmation of Islamic holidays just before each event takes place. The announcements are made by observing the moon and help set the when Islamic months begin.

Across the year, there will be 12 public holidays for citizens of the UAE to enjoy a break.

Mark the date September 5 in your calendar and look out for the next updates. Should this get the Prime Minister’s approval, it might be a great time for people to go on a quick getaway or stay at home before December’s main festivities.
