Some of the prominent figures in Oman’s delegation include the Chair of the Environment Authority Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri. This event will be held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and has been arranged by Secretariat General of Arab League with the collaboration of Regional UNEP West Asia Office.
The forum discusses four main themes: and the conservation of land resources and the environment, including land degradation and global and environmental issues on the regional and global stage; the availability and quality of land, food and water; environmental stewardship for terrestrial systems; international, regional and national approaches to the restoration of terrestrial ecosystems.
A few of its goals include: to exchange experiences in related fields and seek cooperation partners for collaboration; and to create a regional platform for dialogue among the relevant stakeholders to elaborate the current state and outlook for the environmental work in the Arab region.
A commonly agreed forum is required on a regular basis given the involvement of various interests such as policymakers and international and regional experts in different aspects of the environment. It also aims to promote such factors that will increase the prospects for developing the existing and new cooperation between the significant actors.
This participation comes from Oman as a confirmation of its readiness to work towards the alleviation of environmental issues mostly those affecting Arab countries and embracing cooperation to build the Arab Region’s capacity in sustainability and climate change resilience.
