‘Game Changer’: A Mixed Bag of Highs and Lows, Dividing Audience Opinions

The long awaited political drama right from Shankar and featuring power star Ram Charan in the leading role Game Changer has released now and has received some mixed response. To some, it is a courageous effort to tackle corruption in Indian politics; others consider it a normal, hyped company.

Game Changer Audience Reactions

Google user reviews reflect a wide spectrum of opinions: Game Changer

  • While Rod Rambhola said that he found ‘a wooden face throughout the film’ referring to Ram Charan. He dismissed the actor as a global figure, referring to it as the “global wood.”
  • Venkatesh Vallambotla stated that the movie can only be seen as average and indeed, he admitted that there is no suspense at all on the film, and the ”Naana Hyrna” song was missed, and if the viewers didn’t get their chance to watch the film, they must wait for it to be aired on OTT.
  • Ravindran P used words like ‘predictable’ ‘pathetic’ background scores and seen scenes which resemble Shankar’s earlier films.
  • And on the brighter side Siva Reddy seem to have appreciated Ram Charan’s performance and said that ‘Zamindar’ is a full on emotional and action packed block buster. The same is true for Tagore Dutta who has also spoke highly of what the actors delivered as well as the set and production-design aspects.

Still, they like Rajasekhar Reddy Sura preferring that the slow pace lends it good for a leisurely watch on OTT.

Game Changer Critical Reception

It attracted overall similar critical response from major critics.

  • The Movie times gave it 3/5 and said that it was a classic example of a well made commercial movie Shankar’s scale and ram Charan’s performance notably impressive.
  • The same was true for Firstpost and Deccan Chronicle where the 2/5 stars suggestion said lively ideas and concepts from Shankar for shooting.
  • As per Hindustan Times –it is strictly average –it talks about huge portions of political corruption but that’s about as inventive as it gets.

Game Changer: Final Take

In some ways Game Changer raises questions about how the concept is implemented, and whether the approach is innovative, but it does sustain focus on corruption as its theme. The fans of Ram Charan may go ga ga for this game and the critics insisting that the film must bring a change, Game Changer is all set to indeed turn the game around by putting the onus on the audience.
