Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus to Lead Bangladesh Interim Government

Another bangladeshi personality, Muhammad Yunus, the casual of Nobel peace prize, has been appointed as the head of interim government in Bangladesh when the last Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, resigned and left the country. When Hasina escaped from the country, students dominated mass uprising was going on in the country.

It was declared on early Wednesday by Joynal Abedin, the press secretary of President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

Constitution of the Interim Government

Abedin said that other ministers in the interim government led by Yunus will be appointed once consultations are done with different political fraternities and major stakeholders. The results of the meeting were made after a five hours meeting late on Tuesday at the presidential house. These are the studentadelphes advocates of student protest movements, chiefs of the three military divisions, civil society personalities and several business people.

Student-Led Uprising

Most of the mass protests were against Sheikh Hasina and the students who ordered the ousting of the軍 and later named Yunus as the head of the interim government. The position has apparently been offered to Yunus who is in Paris at the moment and it is believed that he has accepted it and would be coming back to Bangladesh shortly, this from the local media disclosures.

Support and Satisfaction

After the post conference and the announcement of appointing Yunus, the student leaders were okay with the decision and within minutes left the president’s house past midnight.

Background

The 2006 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Muhammad Yunus who runs micro-finance and is the founder of Grameen Bank. It is considered that his leadership will return stability and political changes in Bangladesh during this rather uneasy political time.
