President Donald Trump jetted into Abu Dhabi Thursday morning, as his first official trip abroad since he was re-elected into office earlier this year. The visit comes after important diplomatic action in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as part of a strategic tour of the Middle East to bolster local alliance.
Earlier this week, Trump met with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss in Riyadh; where the two countries entered into major investment and defense deals. There is an historic move whereby Trump also announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria. The President then proceeded to Qatar, which hosted him for state dinner at Lusail Palace and presided over a huge deal in aviation sector involving 160 Boeing jets.
In Saudi stop, Trump posted the video, which praised both Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, namely, “Peace, prosperity, and progress came not from rejecting heritage but embracing it.”
Trump is to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. Although the detailed meeting is in confidentiality, the reported listed agenda includes topics relating to artificial intelligence cooperation and regional security.
Although the exact location has not been revealed, but it is likely going to be held at Qasr Al Watan, the official Presidential palace and events center for the highest levels of statehood gatherings.
Trump has a history of good ties with the UAE, not only on a business but also on the diplomatic ground and this was his first ever visit to the UAE as a President.
This visit helps explore the tremendous relationships between the two countries that were continuously forged for more than half a century. In a past meeting that took place in the U.S in the year 2024, the President Sheikh Mohamed had thanked Trump for his role in developing a vibrant relationship between the two countries.
