Abu Dhabi and Dubai Top Liveability Rankings in Middle East and Africa, Among Safest Cities Globally

For the third time in a raw, EIU has ranked both Abu Dhabi and Dubai as the most liveable cities in MENA region and in Africa by the year 2024. The analysed case shows that both cities recorded considerable increases in the key sectors like healthcare and education thereby strengthening their roles as the regional powerhouses.

Thus, Abu Dhabi ranked on the first place and Dubai the second. This achievement reaffirms the cities’ ongoing progress in expanding the practice of building up better infrastructure and offering quality services that are directly linked to high liveability results.

Besides being ranked on the parameters of liveability, Abu Dhabi and Dubai have also been cited as some of the safest cities in the world. The Crime and Safety Indexes given by Numbeo put forward the analysis where Abu Dhabi was ranked the safest city in the world with a safety rating of 88. 2 scores. Dubai also had a good show and it came placed at the 5th rank among all the cities of the world.

There is notable progress in the healthcare of the two cities. The study conducted on Dubai Health Authority identified that the whole licensed and running the healthcare facilities in the Dubai in the first quarter of 2024 were 5,020 with almost 13,370 licensed doctors practicing in the emirate. During the same period, Abu Dhabi had 3,323 healthcare facilities, out of which 67 were hospitals and over 1,100 health centers by the end of 2022 and the total licensed doctors were 12,922.

Education sector has also expanded since its liberalization in the later part of the last decade. About 459 schools including private, public and mixed schools are found in Abu Dhabi and 220 are private schools for the academic year 2023-2024 in Dubai.

The Global Liveability Index evaluates 173 cities worldwide across five categories: stability, health and welfare, cultural/heraldry, environmental, education, and posts and infrastructure. Out of the above list of top ten city?s seven were belonging to Middle East among those four were from Gulf area Kuwait city, Doha city and Bahrain city were also included in above list of Middle East city. These outcomes indicate that the Gulf region is increasingly assuming powers of key influence and stability on the international scene and consolidates its recognition as the talent and funds hotspot.
