Fujairah Hosts Prestigious 2024 International Arabian Horse Championship

The four-day exhibition of the 2024 Fujairah International Arabian Horse Championship started today at the Fujairah Fort Arena – gracious for the support of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. It is an awaited and marvellous occasion for horse riding competitions accompanied then with a reflection of Emirati culture.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Sheikh Dr Rashid bin Hamad Al Qarqi Chairman of Fujairah Culture and Media Authority and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Seef Al Qarqi, in addition to other dignitaries and officials.

This year’s championship, which shows Fujairah rapidly becoming an international hotspot for horsemanship, has attracted more than 300 of the world’s finest purebred Arabian horses. This underlines the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Ruler of Fujairah where his support has provided great impetus towards a prominent stance for Fujairah on the international map of equestrian sports.

The event has received significant regional and international media coverage making it an important fixture on the international horse riding calendar. Sheikh Dr Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi handed over the prize to the Gd winners of the Yearling Fillies saying that he saw much talent and hard work among the participants and their equines.

Beside the competition, there are many cultural activities that represent the heritage of the Emirati and are participated in by visitors. Such events offer a look into UAE heritage, giving sporting events an original twist, with true Emirati roots.

Special guests were Sheik Mohammed bin Sauc Al Qassim, Chairman of the Sharjah Finance Department and Sheik Abdullah Bin Majid Bin ,Saqr Al Qassem Chairman of Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club. HE Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi also graced the occasion and Salem Al Zahmi too which in turn makes this championship all the more prestigious.

Horse lovers, particularly those who have great interest in equestrian and Arabian horses had the opportunity to appreciate great skills, customs and professionalism as the championship was a cultural, as well as a sporting event.
