Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Attends 29th Dubai World Cup at Meydan

At the 29th Dubai World Cup event in 2019 the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum together with other Dubai royal family members and leading dignitaries attended the Meydan Racecourse to confirm Dubai’s position as an international equestrian excellence center.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received support during the 29th Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in addition to high-ranking dignitaries as well as members of his royal family.

A Proud Legacy and Global Platform
Sheikh Mohammed announced during the ceremony that the Dubai World Cup initiated in 1996 represents an influential manifestation of UAE international visibility in sports as well as cultural achievements. Horse racing continues to bring pride to our cultural heritage because it unites nations and their people according to Sheikh Mohammed.

The growing worldwide popularity of the event led He to present his gratitude to the event organizers for setting the Dubai World Cup as the premier race competition worldwide.

Victory for Hit Show
Above all in the Group 1 competition the win went to Hit Show under jockey Florent Geroux guided by trainer Brad Cox while Wathnan Racing founded the horse. Fatal shooting scored a win at the 2,000-metre dirt race while Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum awarded the trophy worth US$12 million.

World-Class Competition
This year the championship hosted 102 horses that represented twelve different nations and nine different competitions and distributed US$30.5 million in prize money. The top breeders alongside jockeys and owners from various global racing communities participated in Dubai which made the city recognized as a prime horse racing hub.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed joined Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed and Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed as visitors along with international racing heroes and officials.
