Elon Musk Threatens to Ban Apple Devices from His Companies if They Integrate ChatGPT

Elon Musk has made very clear that he will follow the dictum that says ‘When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one man to do the right thing and stand up against a monstrous malady of human creation, that man must have the courage to do so’ and in his case, that means banning Apple products from Tesla, SpaceX and all his organizations should Apple take ChatGPT into the operating system. Musk classified such integration as ‘Unacceptable security violation’ He specifically pointed out the concern for the dangers of putting advanced AI technology inside consumer products.

Thus, if OpenAI becomes a part of Apple and the company implements OpenAI at the operating system level then Apple devices will be hence: ‘That is an accepted security violation,’ Musk declared unequivocally. These comments of him are indicative of persistent concerns over the liberal use and advancement of AI systems and their privacy and security risks for the users.

Musk proposed radical procedures that affect general public. This means that the employees and the visitors of his companies like Tesla and SpaceX would be forbidden to bring Apple devices with them inside the building, and if they owned such devices they would have to leave them with security services in special Faraday room. This step is to ensure that organization incurs no security breaches as a result of integrating AI.

The statement was made by the tech entrepreneur and has lead to a vast discussion in the tech circles a year later due to the conflict between AI development and safety. The path towards a complete integration of highly sophisticated artificial intelligence into current consumer products and services as seen with companies such as Apple is a path that Musk seems to want to also follow, while at the same time demanding a careful look at the effects that could arise from such developments.
