A newly launched futuristic UAE-based cleantech startup company by Max Kaplevich – Sparklo, breaks new grounds in recycling by making the process enjoyable and even profitable. The company’s reverse vending machines; Sparklomats have enabled it recycle 33 million plastic bottles and aluminium cans in the MENA region in the last 18 months. With large companies such as LuLu Hypermarket, Carrefour, and ADNOC Distribution, this equipment gives users an opportunity to recycle bottles and cans in order to be rewarded in terms of groceries, bills, car charging, among other services.
Sparklo currently plans a rapid expansion across the UAE with the goal of establishing 5,000 of its Sparklomats through the company’s goal of increasing recycling before pollution backgrounds of plastic and aluminum waste can be achieved. Thus, the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning as part of the company’s operations has already drawn over 300,000 users who are part of the recycling process.
The rewards- based strategy used by Sparklo in which people are encouraged to recycle for instant rewards such as; discounts on basic commodities, have proved to be helpful in enhancing recycling. Engaging with the government officials and increasing the company’s partnerships, Sparklo is also advancing the UAE and the international circular economy and cleantech market.
Currently the company is already active in Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, India, Kazakhstan and Georgia with intentions to expand even further.
