MBZUAI introduces its game-changing AI-based technologies for immediate avatar development along with state-of-the-art video edition software at the university’s Data Observatory. Professor Hao Li and PhD student Ariana Bermudez jointly demonstrated innovative AI-driven tools Voodoo XP and XMem++ at the Data Observatory through which they outlined the potential to revolutionize virtual chat and digital media development at the MBZUAI Metaverse Centre.
Voodoo XP drives a fundamental transformation of virtual communications.
Through Voodoo XP users can create faithful digital avatars by using their standard webcam system. Traditional systems need complex hardware infrastructure but Voodoo XP performs instant capture and animation of faces through its operating system. Professor Li demonstrated the process while operating a virtual avatar because he was performing it in real time. Voodoo XP technology enables more realistic interactions through virtual meetings while also making online gaming more immersive and gameplay more natural.
During his presentation Bermudez explained that Voodoo XP provides an easy method to create complex digital avatars. The founder linked Voodoo XP’s processes to the 171-camera setup of Meta’s Codec Avatar system that needs extensive training. The system generates an avatar instantly using only one webcam according to Bermudez. The tracking system detects tiny facial expressions while the avatar responds naturally to them.
Advanced Video Editing with XMem++
MBZUAI launched XMem++ which represents a superior video object segmentation tool built to aid professional video editors as well as augmented reality practitioners. The enhanced memory operation combined with better tracking precision from this system enables VFX artists to manipulate video content without interruptions.
Users benefit from this tool because it makes complicated editing processes easier by allowing them to improve effects while making changes instantaneously according to Bermudez. XMem++ established itself in Nuke as an industry-standard component that enables visual effects artists to create disappearances in objects. Developers along with creatives can find this open-source application freely available because they need it to boost their working processes.
MBZUAI applies its innovations to advance AI technology through the creation of superior virtual encounters.
