Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Chairs Advanced Technology Research Council Meeting

H. H Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also presided over the board meeting of the Advanced Technology Research Council where they discussed the Progression of Research and Development in and proposed three new ventures.

Sheikh Khaled particularly highlighted the need to invest in the development of radical new ICT technologies and AI thereof in order to sustain the UAE’s status of an innovation-driven economy. He stressed on the function of the UAE Research Map in promoting National research collaboration and in providing support to the UAE talent in technological advancement.

The meeting reiterated the importance of cultivating UAE National talent in STEM areas that are crucial in advancing the country’s research environment and affecting areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and robotics. The council’s responsibilities also entail establishing Abu Dhabi research and development landscape and STEM education in view of the UAE Centennial 2071 vision.

ATRC’s commercialisation arm VentureOne is going to spin out three ventures in data security in the quantum age, smart and autonomous mobility, and Agritech with Robotics in order to understand and come up with solutions to deal with some of the economic priorities in Abu Dhabi. These are still expected to be started later this year.

The council discussed the updated UAE Research Map the map that, since its launch in May 2024, had more than 2 thousand visits and 450 registered experts. The map increases partnership between the academia and the public and private domains whereby, 10 others expressed their willingness to be part of the map.

ATRC is also boosting the application of the UAE’s Falcon LLM within technological frameworks and governmental solutions. The capacity to execute secure optical communications has moved forward as the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) unmasked the Abu Dhabi Quantum Optical Ground Station. TII also got an award for the Directed Energy Center’s activities in responding to environmental issues and gained considerable downloads for the Falcon LLM models.

ASPIRE, which operates as ATRC’s program management entity, has presented projects related to the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051 and international food security with reference to its cooperation with XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion.

Such distinguished personalities were the part of the meeting including Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, H. H. Sheikh Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori and Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab.
