Al Karama

Al Karama represents one of the oldest and the most colourful quarters in Dubai which still can be considered quite compact but boosts numerous opportunities for affordable living, various cuisine samples and local souvenirs shopping. Regardless of whether one is a newcomer to the neighborhood or whether he has bought a home in the area, here are all the necessary details.

Renting in Al Karama
At a mean price of Dhs70, 000 for a one bed room apartment per year, Al Karama is still high in demand due to its strategic position and pocket friendly prices. As you might have noticed, space is limited, yet one can find the commodious old-type houses as well as the new-type apartments mainly on rent, and the prices are relatively lower as compared to the other regions of Dubai.

Best Restaurants in Al Karama
The beautiful garden area of Al Karama Hotel reflects the type of food businesses available; it has everything from Indian and Indonesian food to fresh seafood and an Ethiopian platter. Top picks include:

Dapoer Kita – Indonesian flavors like satay and nasi goreng
Calicut Paragon – Famous for its South Indian spice-packed dishes
Sallet Al Sayad – Affordable seafood specialties
Peshwa – Traditional Maharashtrian thalis
Zagol – restaurant that offers genuine Ethiopian food
Shopping & Activities
Despite being part of Dubai’s growing string of malls, Al Karama is not one of the up-market shopping centres; if anything, it is the kind that offers great deals in the middle of the street. Popular spots include:

Karama Souk (18B Street) – Handbags, pashminas & souvenirs
Al Attar Centre – Affordable clothing, accessories & snacks
Karama Fish Market (5B Street) – Fresh seafood at great prices
For recreation, see the movie at Karama Park, discover art on the 18B Street Graffiti and go for a nearby city tour at Zabeel Park and Dubai Frame.

Getting Around
Al Karama is also very much connected to ADCB Metro Station (Red Line) or multiple bus routes. This neighborhood is especially friendly for tourists, those who came for a short visit and for those, who decided to stay in that city for a long time.
