Couple Embarks on Epic Overland Journey from Netherlands to Dubai, Embracing Slow Travel

Today, people spend hours in airplanes to go through continents; thus, the story of one couple is wonderstruck. From Slovakia-based and now living in the Netherlands, Adam and Veronica originally wanted to explore the world with flights. Their latest adventure? An arduous road trip in a car driving 5,500 miles from the Netherlands to United Arab Emirates without having to fly.

The journey of that couple made them travel through 11 countries with using 12 trains, 2 buses, 4 minivans, 2 taxis, and 1 ferry more than 155 hours. It was not simply getting to Dubai that was a worry, it was the roads, the people, and little things most tourists do not get to see as they focus on getting to the next place.

Interestingly, their outlook towards flying is not due to a phobia, even though, as Adam honestly says, he has a bit of a fear of flying. However, their approach remains a result of the desire to have the entire experience. The reason is that we like the road trips more; therefore, we never consider flying, as Adam says. This way they get to observe the transitions from one country to another slowly, a luxury which is hard to come by when flying at thirty thousand feet in the air.

They hosted unique encounters with the societies including Transnistria which is an unrecognised state that split from Moldova and a scenic railway journey in turkey. Though on all their overland travels, they take it with a touch of adventure and calendar planning which has led to some of the many great memories they hold dear and one such is a rather touching experience in Iran.

Now in Dubai, Adam and Veronica are gearing up for their next big adventure: walking through the desert by land from Dubai to Japan, a key concept that was highlighted would be that the path is just as important as the end goal. Thanks to expanded social media activity, they strive to encourage other people to travel with a purpose and respect the planet.
