The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has signed an unprecedented partnership with Dubal e-commerce firm noon to fast-track development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the emirate. This is under Dubai Traders in the framework of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) proposed and launched by His Highness Sheeik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to transform Dubai into the capital of entrepreneurship.
The Dubai Traders program is aimed at a business’s digitalization of SMEs to include them in local and foreign markets through digital tools and e-commerce. Some of the support tools given are onboarding, account management, advertising credits, and noon’s fast delivery network. Additional incentives to the Emirati sellers through noon’s Mahali program will also build up on this participation.
When talking about the collaboration with noon, Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation at DET said that SMEs are crucial to Dubai’s economy and this partnership will significantly boost the economy and promote innovation. Faraz Khalid CEO of noon, tried to assure the company’s focus on the independence of local seller’s ecosystem and e commerce.
The partnership can therefore be viewed as a typical example of how the government and private actors cooperate in sustaining Dubai’s SME environment and therefore a crucial step towards the realization of the visionary goals in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
