The UAE Ministry of Interior has penned the deal with the US Department of Homeland Security thereby moving the UAE to the Global Entry Programme roster. From October 2024, a new plan will help the Emirati citizens with a valid US visa to enter the United States without a lot of formalities to jump through and standing in long lines.
The Global Entry Programme, which checks applicants’ security backgrounds prior to travel, makes a subsequent entry check at a customs kiosk or other US ports of entry easier. It is recognized that the Emiratis will be able to employ the application at over seventy-five ports, increasing efficiency as well as security.
Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Minister of State and Ambassador to the US noted it would enhance security and regional cooperation as well as trade and tourism between the United States and the UAE. He said that it demonstrates continued push toward building diplomatic relations of cooperation given that the signing was done when the president of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed was on a state visit in the United States of America.
This has truly now shifted the dynamics of UAE-US relations and from the citizens of UAE, is set to help make travelling between the two countries much quicker and seamless.
