Dubai Expands Smart Bus Service to Oud Metha and Barsha Heights

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has added Oud Metha and Barsha Heights to its Bus-On-Demand service for residents who want efficient and cost-effective transit alternatives. Through this initiative the emirate seeks to reduce traffic problems and establish uninterrupted transportation throughout the area.

A Smarter and Cost-Effective Mobility Solution
Bus-On-Demand represents a primary mass mobility solution according to RTA’s Public Transport Agency Director of Planning and Business Development Adel Shakri who also stated that individual trips cost AED 5 per person. The quick expansion of Dubai needs adaptable technology-based transportation services which will boost metro mobility within the city.

The Bus-On-Demand service launched first in Al Barsha and Dubai Silicon Oasis and Al Nahda but it added Business Bay and Downtown Dubai as new areas of operation starting in 2024. The new expansion has extended the on-demand transport network to serve ten important regions throughout Dubai.

How It Works
Smart booking occurs through the Dubai-Bus On-Demand app available on Apple Store and Google Play for passenger booking requests.
Users have easy access to nearest public transits through this service by choosing their location.
Services are paid for in the app to provide a streamlined transaction process.
Customers can travel comfortably with the bus-on-demand service through its usage of buses that contain 13 seats.

Building a Smarter Transport Future
The Bus-On-Demand initiative provides enhanced first- and last-mile connections through its system which leads to improved safety and smooth operation of the transport network. RTA performed extensive research that incorporated data about passenger behavior along with global transportation standards and traveler requirements before the launch began.

The expansion of this service allows RTA to modernize Dubai’s transport system which enables better accessibility for urban travelers both residents and visitors.
