Dubai Metro has been revamped as per the annual maintenance program launched by the Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Every single train operating through the red and green railway line has been overhauled, and all of them, 79 in total, are well running and offer rounded security to users. The Dubai Metro, since its opening in 2009, has provided more than 1.5 million kilometers of network for the city and its commuters.
As part of the maintenance initiative, the rails were grinded with the aim of cleaning debris from them to ensure that the travelling along Sheikh Zayed Road and other parts of the country was smooth. Such measures have paid off yielding 99,7% punctuality level which means passengers can expect timely and smoothly running transport.
The Future of Metro Expansion
At the same time RTA’s vision goes even beyond simple maintenance being in tune with and corresponding to such of Dubai’s 2030 strategic plan, as sustainable urban transport. One of the major parts of this growth is the much-feared Dubai Metro Blue Line project. It will be a new line and new stations for the city’s metro network, which will improve connectivity for residents, and it is to be implemented via an investment of AED 18 billion.
Due to open in 2029 to mark the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Metro, the blue line is projected to transport up to 200000 people a day. This is expected to grow to 320 thousand by 2040. This line will serve nine major areas like Marsa, Dubai Creek, Festival City and International City, Al Rashidiya, Al Warqa, Mirdif and Silicon Oasis and Academic City; it will link with Red Line at Centre Point Station and Green Line at Al Khor Station.
To this day 15 years after the launch, a vibrant and transitioning Line is still in operation in Dubai working on the difficult task to maintain the proven operability of the modern Line while thinking about its future extension. Still making its rounds as safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly form of transport in reducing traffic congestion, the metro is a key component of Dubai’s concept of providing efficient transportation system.
