Dubai RTA Opens New Bridges on Al Khail Road to Enhance Traffic Flow

RTA, the transport authority of Dubai, has recently launched two other important bridges in Al Khail Road that has added to the infrastructure of the city. These new bridges have been built at Zaa’beel and Al Quoz 1; the bridges’ total length is 1,350 meters and its performance is around 8000 vehicles per hour.

Zaa’beel bridge spans 700 meters, and has three-line bridges that links Zaa’beel Palace Street and Oud Metha Street to Al Khail Road directing traffics towards Jebel Ali. The Al Quoz 1 bridge is measuring 650 meters in length with two lanes that connect Al Meydan Street with Al Khail Road which also guides the traffic to Jebel Ali.

According to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the new projects are part of Dubai’s road network improvement, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA said. These changes are made with the purpose of enhancing the urban environment, the increasing population and the reduce traffic jam.

The current open expansion project is the Al Khail Road Development Project where work is now 80 percent done, entails constructing 3,300 meters of new bridges and broadening an additional 6,820 meters of current lanes at three places on the Al Khail Road. It will save 30 percent of time while enhancing the current intersections and bridges to accommodate about 19,600 vehicles per an hour.

Besides the construction of new bridges the project as well contains strengthening modifications at seven strategic zones on Al Khail Road including Al Jaddaf, Meydan, and Jumeirah Village Circle. It is expected that by the end of October the RTA is going to launch three more bridges that would also help to improve the traffic in the direction of Deira.
