Dubai Sees Record High Taxi Usage: Here’s Why

There is also an increased indication of taxi usage in Dubai with 96. 9 million passengers in this year’s trips as against 96. 2m a similar period the previous year. In the first half of 2024 there has been 55,7 million of taxi travelling, 500,000 of which higher than the previous year. There are now 12,778 legal taxis in the city and 4,000 more drivers for them.

The Hala Taxi e-hail service that operates through Careem has enabled passengers to order more easily; this year, e-bookings were branded 40 percent of the total. Taxis are also being dispatched faster, 76pc of cars got to the passenger in less than ¾ of an hour or three percent better than the year before.

Speaking to Amen, Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said that sustained expansion was due to rising demand, followed by giving important attention to meeting consumer needs.
