Dubai Updates Salik and Parking Policies: New Tolls and Free Journeys Announced

The government of Dubai through its RTA last month unveiled new prices for Salik tolls and parking fees in a bid to streamline traffic and make a commute more convenient. The adjustments that include differences in toll and parking fees will be implemented beginning from early 2025.

New Salik Toll System

From January 2025, the dates of the Salik toll will be free from January 1 to June 6th, and then from October 1st to December 31st for certain routes, and for the entire year if the route is within Dubai City. During rush hours over weekdays, 6AM to 10AM and 4PM to 8PM, the toll fee will be AED 6 ($ 1.63). Other times between 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and between 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM will cost AED 4 ($1.09).

The toll price will stay at AED 4 for the whole Sunday except any holidays or other occasions such as events and celebrations. Free movement will also be allowed within the hours of 1 a.m and 6 a.m in a day.

Parking Tariff Revisions

The fee for parking will also follow a similar variable structure from March 2025. The premium spaces will be charged at AED6 per hour and the standard public spaces at AED4 during the peak period marked by 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. Current rates will be kept during the off-peak times which include the morning, evening as well as night time between 10:00am and 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm respectively. We will continue to offer free parking at all of our car parks after 10pm until 8am and all day on Sundays.

Pricing based on congestion during specific events

Regarding major events, the congestion pricing policy will be implemented near the event zone on the certain major event, with the tests will be started in February, 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Public paid parking fees will be AED 25 ($ 6.81 ) per hour in such zones in view of controlling congestion during busy occasions.

This change in operating strategies of Salik and parking system shows the direction Dubai has embraced smart city and decoupling of traffic jams at an affordable rate during certain times of the day.
