Abu Dhabi to Offer Marriage Loans to Emiratis Starting September

Now the authorities of Abu Dhabi offered young Emiratis a new loan for marriage. The Marriage Loan Initiative launched under the Emirati Family Growth Programme shall offer the stated UAE citizens in the capital interest-free loan of up to Dh150,000 ($40,838).

Founded by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, this aims at creating a culture of easy marriage and the establishment of healthy families. Workers earning up to Dh60, 000 will be eligible for the loans. The plan aims at the grooms of 21 years and above and brides, if they are below 18 years, they must produce an Affidavit of Marriageable Age.

Abdulla Al Ameri, director general of the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, stressed the government’s intention to enhance family solidarity and social connectedness, encourage citizen population growth, and provide the foundation for the creation of healthy families. ”This is as a result of commitment from the Abu Dhabi Government for the support of the family cohesiveness and the social fabric, support of population growth of citizens and support of formation of solid families,” he said.

The marriage loans would be granted to the couples planning for a marriage in the coming future and the applications for the program would start from September for those who are within their six months’ period of marriage. It is being launched by the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority to break the cyclical poverty among young people, especially to help make provisions of basic necessities for the family when starting marriage.

The Emirati Family Growth Programme is therefore one of the pillars of the general social welfare and stability projects being carried out in Abu Dhabi. This marriage loan scheme therefore clearly reveals the government’s forward thinking in meeting the social needs and creating an encouraging culture for the young people who are young couples.

The Marriage Loan Initiative is supposed to be effective towards improving the welfare of the community through free and early marriage among the youths from the Emirati’s thus enhancing the population sustainability.
