Yas Island’s summer entertainment lineup is set to shine as Cirque du Soleil brings its acclaimed production Corteo to Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi from June 12 to 21, 2026.
For the first time in the capital, audiences will have the opportunity to experience one of the company’s most beloved shows. The Abu Dhabi run marks a major cultural highlight for 2026, offering residents and visitors a chance to witness world-class live entertainment in an immersive arena setting.
The production is presented by Ethara and SES Live!, in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and Miral.
What Is Corteo by Cirque du Soleil?
First staged in 2005, Corteo has captivated more than 12 million spectators across over 150 cities worldwide. The show blends Cirque du Soleil’s signature acrobatics, theatrical storytelling, live music and visual spectacle into a dreamlike parade of scenes.
At its core, Corteo imagines the world through the eyes of a clown, creating a whimsical and emotional journey filled with humour and heart. Rather than following a traditional linear storyline, the production unfolds as a sequence of striking characters and unforgettable moments.
Audiences can expect gravity-defying aerial acts, playful clown performances, flying chandeliers, bouncing beds and elaborate stage design that pushes creative boundaries.
Unique Two-Sided Arena Experience
One of the defining features of the Abu Dhabi production is its rare two-sided arena format. The stage will be positioned at the centre of Etihad Arena, with audiences seated on both sides facing one another.
This layout offers a unique perspective on the performance, allowing viewers to see the action from angles typically reserved for the performers themselves. Hand-painted curtains inspired by European theatre traditions further enhance the visual experience.
A Global Production Nearing Its Final Chapter
Over its 21-year global journey, Corteo has enjoyed landmark performances at venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall, The O2 Arena and Paris’ Accor Arena.
The touring production features a 117-member international cast and crew, with live music performed throughout the show. The Abu Dhabi engagement represents the final chapter of this celebrated production’s worldwide run.
