Louvre Abu Dhabi Announces Jury and Shortlisted Artists for Art Here 2024 and Richard Mille Art Prize

Art Here 2024, Galerie del’Art Louvre Abu Dhabi; The Fourth Collective Exhibition of Louvre Abu Dhabi and Richard Mille Showcases the Jury Of the Period and the Competing Artists. This annual event seeks to working towards the promotion of local and regional artist with a view of facilitating for their work to be exposed in the right manner.

The jury has been completed for the this year’s edition of the GCC now including North Africa to have professionals from various cultural backgrounds. Returning jury members are H. H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, an Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Founder & Chairman of UAE Unlimited, Guilhem André, the Scientific Curatorial and Collection Management Director at Louvre Abu Dhabi, as well licensed museum professional art historian. New members are Simon Njami an independent Curator / art critic, Nujoom Alghanem a poet / filmmaker of the UAE, and Maya Allison, Founding Director and Chief Curator of NYU Abu Dhabi.

The theme this year is about awakenings, and it prompts artists to think about the possibility of openness and represent it. The theme holds the meaning related to the chance and its options which determine the further path. Contemporary questions and future perspectives will be work of art presented in the form of sculptures or audiovisual installation which will be created by shortlisted artists. These works are going to be at the Louvre Abu Dhabi from 20th of September to 15th of December in 2024.

The current collaboration is praised by Manuel Rabaté, the director of Louvre Abu Dhabi that considered the theme’s concept and for the first time, North Africa was invited to the open call. “We are glad that we could create and exhibit artworks of five of the shortlisted artists,” Rabaté said as he underscore this mission of the museum alluding to the aim of diversify the cultural angle of the region.

The current people’s choice competition attracted a total of 230 entries from artists based in the UAE, other GCC countries, North Africa and other parts of the world. Regarding 2024 Art Here exhibition, five outstanding artists from United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, and Egypt have been selected for the display. Their creations will be in a race to ignite the Richard Mille Art Prize which comes with a cash reward of US$ 60,000.
