Dubai Crown Prince Meets TikTok CEO to Boost Media Innovation in UAE

TikTok head Shou Zi Chew also sat down with Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to talk partnerships in new media talent to support Dubai’s position as a global media city. Featuring many of the highest-level Dubai officials and TikTok representatives, the meeting showed the emirate’s willingness to encourage international media technology giants like TikTok while nurturing up-and-coming talent and innovation in the region.

In the conversation part, Sheikh Hamdan also underlined that Dubai aims at creating the conditions that would allow introducing a culture of creative and media success, accompanied by partnerships that help UAE companies find the latest innovations. “Dubai is determined to increase cooperation with the world’s new media technology giants such as TikTok to further develop effectively the competitiveness of media sector,” — added Sheikh Hamdan and noted that these cooperation aimed at providing that Dubai continues to be competitive in the industry.

As a key enhancement of knowledge transfer in line with the Dubai strategy, the Dubai Press Club (DPC) will tomorrow open a roundtable with TikTok’s Shou Zi Chew. The session titled Creating the Future of Content Creation and Enabling Innovation will allow content creators from across the UAE and the region to share their views on the state of content creation.

TikTok signed for the Middle East and North Africa was launched in Dubai 2018, and has snowballed in influence across MENA especially among the youth. The growth of the platform in the region can be attributed to Dubai as an ideal location for dynamic media organisations seeking new growth options.

The meeting was with other leaders including Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State, for Artificial Intelligence together with other leaders and representatives of TikTok. This joint action further strengthens Dubai’s innovation in media future and supporting the UAE’s content producers.
