The travel prohibition orders that [affected] divorced parents with their children to stay in the same country as their spouse are to be amended, Dubai has said in its recent release with details of new changes that come just in time for the Eid Al Adha holidays and summer holidays. The new procedures are actually a measure towards the simplification of travel permit acquisition, thereby removing the hitches and stresses that were once inherently attached to travelling to foreign countries.

Simplified Travel Procedures

Dubai Courts a new set of directives that will allow divorced parents to take their kids on trips without facing restrictions on Thursday. Travel ban is an integral part of the reform where the restriction imposed in the Freedom Restriction System cancels as soon as the signature of the judge is obtained. This is a deviation from the past when stricter laws applied, and an individual could potentially abduct their own child if they traveled to another country with or without the permission of the other parent.

Emirati lawyer Specialized in Shariah and international law Alla Juwair Alla Al Ahbabi indicated that the aforementioned old procedures mean such human rights are not protected and may result in children missing important educational, leisure or medical activities. The reforms are contained in the Dubai Social Agenda 33 framework for positive change in social standings and family situations.

Key Changes Highlighted

Al Ahbabi outlined the main changes:

Electronic Applications: Applicants can now apply for the travel permits through the digital platform of the Dubai Courts and this is made available to the legal guardians for their convenience.

Quick Reviews:

By using this approach, applications are completed fast and carefully by the right government agencies which lead to quick approvals. Enhanced Security: Further safeguards are installed to confirm the child’s hobbies and assure their security during their travel. A comparative analysis of the old and new rules under the BMR is illustrated below: The previous system was cumbersome, intricate and demanded the acceptance of the guardian and entailed time delays along with the resultant psychological pressure. The new mechanism, however, is based on a more straightforward electronic application of the application, which will cause even more confidence among guardians and children themselves.

Old System:

When filling the form there are a number of procedures that has to be followed and the form has to be approved by the guardian. Lack of timely clearance which hampers the overall process. Lack of chances of education or Health care services that may be missed out by the child.

New System:

In short, fast, ostensible, and streamlined electronic application. Efficiency in the speed of processing and lesser stress on the patient’s mind. Puts into place the timely delivery of opportunities to the children. Supportive Environment for Families Al Ahbabi further noted that it is expected that new rules should ensure a positive environment where children can turn with an encouragement to adopt better policies or further adaption of the flexible management procedures for the benefit of the community. All these changes should help toward building a more stable and happier family in families in Dubai.
