Dubai Customs Launches ‘Basma (Imprint)’ Award to Promote Innovation

The Basma (Imprint) Award serves as a new initiative from Dubai Customs which focuses on innovation management and intellectual property defense practices. This award supports the “Year of Community” objectives of the UAE by fostering talent training and skill building along with innovative thinking.

Encouraging Awareness and Creativity
The award features two separate divisions which constitute its structure.

General public
School and university students
The program provides essential information to community members about the health risks of fake products with their economic consequences and environmental effects. The participants must create innovative methods to show the value of intellectual property rights.

A Platform for Innovation
As Director of IPR Department at Dubai Customs Yousef Ozair Mubarak insists that the organization persistently upholds its mission to safeguard trademark rights together with innovation and creatorship. Dubai Customs uses workshops together with contests and educational campaigns to fight counterfeit distribution while making Dubai recognized globally as an innovation center.

Award Categories and Submission Details
The award consists of three different submission types which participants can enter.

All participants need to develop approved awareness videos for social media sharing under this category.
Written materials under the headings of Article and Short Story support the defense of intellectual property rights.
Podcast – An engaging discussion on intellectual property issues.
Submission Deadline: February 17, 2025
Review Period: March 3–25, 2025
The competition winners will be revealed on World Intellectual Property Day specifically on April 26, 2025.
