The ninth festival of honey in Hatta in Dubai has taken a new turn with the use of a robotic arm that tests honey products. Organized by Dubai Municipality, the event demonstrates that technology applied in innovative and creative manner is now and will in future change traditional practices in honey production.
Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) has incorporated this tool in a bid to enhance efficiency of honey quality assurance tests. Mentioned in a video by the municipality, the arm provide prompt lab results in ensuring that honey products are of the best quality. Compared to the former testing methods this kind of testing is more sophisticated and it also uses the polymerase chain reaction PCR technology to find fungi and yeast hence improving the accuracy of the evaluations.
“This service makes sure that Exhibitors and visitors gain a fast confirmation of honey quality together with conformity to the recommended standards” the municipality explained. It is the result of Dubai’s pursuit in applying innovation to tradition to enhance consumer confidence and the industry.
The event taking place at Hatta Hall is until 31st December with various kinds of the premium honey products produced and exhibited by Emirati beekeepers. People, including residents of the region, have the chance to look at certain delicious types of honey and get acquainted with how IT helps to develop the sector at the sales kiosks.
