Dubai to Build World’s Largest Fruit and Vegetable Market

Dubai seems to be heading to the construction of a global fruit and vegetable market with intention of boosting the development of its economy. The Logistics Hub for Foodstuffs, Fruit, and Vegetable Trade that is also set be the world’s largest was officially declared by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This effort is aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda known as D33 which seeks to double the size of Dubai’s economy and position the emirate in the top 3 economic cities globally by the year 2033.

The project shall improve the well-being of people residing in Dubai and simultaneously facilitate the growth of the city’s appeal and cohesiveness. He said: “We have commenced our plan to initiate the largest logistics hub in the world for foodstuffs, fruits, and vegetables trade. As part of this expansion , the economic plan of the nation and the commercial as well as investment prospective would be larger. We have awarded the responsibility of the management, operation and development to DP World market. ”

Due to these factors Dubai City is among the strategic and best commercial and investment centers. Thus, the emirate will continue its active investments in new opportunities for international players and the involvement of youth in developing projects. Consequently, Dubai plans to be a global point on markets and trading hub on export and re-export associated with many sectors in addition to the exploitation of additional economic benefits for investors.

Of course, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE, while watching the signing of a strategic partnership between the Dubai Municipal Council and DP World on the establishment and management of the market.

Which was inked by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Group Chairman and CEO of the DP World and Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of the Dubai Municipality lays the foundation to the largest market of its kind within the universe. Sheikh Maktoum elaborated that Dubai is evolving on the basis of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision to realise spectacular economic objectives and become one of the three leading economic cities of the world by the year 2033.
